Resurfacing is a recommendation problem
Photos actively promotes content: memories, featured photos, widgets, wallpaper suggestions, and search results. Each is a separate surface with its own logic and its own settings.
Hiding changes how an item is presented within Photos; it does not move it out of the library. Hidden items disappear from ordinary Photos views and the Photos widget. Review separate copies, Shared Library content, and each widget as well.
Each surface has its own control
- Featured Content and Memories, with settings in Photos.
- Home Screen, Lock Screen, and StandBy photo widgets, configured per widget.
- Wallpaper photo shuffle, which selects independently.
- Search, which indexes text and recognised content within images.
- Shared albums and Shared Library surfaces, which follow their own rules.
Verify each device and surface
After hiding an item or changing a setting, inspect Photos and each photo widget on every device you use. Confirm what each surface actually displays.
Do not assume that hiding an item removes separate copies, shared content, or photos already exported elsewhere. Review those copies and surfaces separately and verify the result after changes.
