These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the NullVault mobile app provided by NullVault. By downloading, accessing, or using the app, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Features and availability may differ by device, operating system, app version, region, and store. The applicable store listing and purchase confirmation control availability and entitlement for your region and account.
App-store notice: The app is licensed, not sold. The terms of the store from which you obtain the app also apply. If these terms conflict with mandatory store terms, the mandatory store terms control.
The service
NullVault is designed to store app-managed photos, videos, files, notes, and metadata in encrypted, pattern-addressed vaults. Available features may differ by platform and release.
We may improve, restrict, suspend, or discontinue a feature when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, platform compatibility, provider availability, or product operation. Where consumer law requires notice or a remedy, those rights continue to apply.
License to use the app
Subject to these terms and the applicable app-store rules, NullVault grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, reverse engineer, or attempt to derive the source code except where applicable law expressly permits it.
The applicable store's usage rules may apply to downloads, family sharing, device eligibility, and account access. The store is not responsible for NullVault support except to the extent its own terms require.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- choosing and protecting vault patterns, recovery phrases, and sharing phrases;
- maintaining valid backups appropriate to the platform and importance of the data;
- verifying imports, exports, restores, and shared content before deleting an original;
- keeping your device, operating system, platform accounts, and app version secure;
- ensuring you have the right to store, export, or share the content you use with NullVault;
- complying with applicable law, workplace rules, and third-party rights.
Do not send vault secrets or private files to support. NullVault cannot retrieve a forgotten pattern or phrase, bypass local encryption, or reconstruct content when all valid encrypted copies are gone.
Security has defined limits
NullVault is a security tool, not a promise of absolute safety. You acknowledge that:
- a rooted, jailbroken, compromised, or maliciously instrumented device may observe an unlock or plaintext;
- a weak, reused, or observed pattern may be guessed;
- hidden-vault design does not guarantee forensic invisibility or remove suspicion;
- ordinary deletion does not guarantee physical erasure from flash, snapshots, backups, exports, or recipient devices;
- screen-protection controls cannot stop another camera or every platform attack;
- encrypted cloud payloads still involve provider, account, network, and service metadata;
- recovery depends on the correct phrase, valid encrypted state, and—where required—a valid backup;
- duress protection is local, destructive, and cannot revoke information already captured or guarantee deletion of remote copies.
Read NullVault security and security limitations before relying on the service. NullVault is not an emergency response, legal advice, or personal-safety service.
Acceptable use
You must not use the app to:
- violate law or another person's privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, or safety;
- store or distribute content you are not entitled to possess or share;
- interfere with, probe, overload, or bypass service security outside a clearly authorized security-testing process;
- submit malware, abusive traffic, fraudulent purchase information, or deceptive support requests;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent authority to access shared content.
Nothing in these terms prevents good-faith security research that is lawful, scoped to systems and data you are authorized to test, avoids harm, and is reported responsibly.
Purchases and subscriptions
The applicable app store processes purchases, subscriptions, renewals, trials, tax, cancellation, refunds, and restoration. The store confirmation controls the final regional price, billing period, trial eligibility, renewal date, and platform entitlement.
Monthly and annual subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled through the applicable store before its stated renewal deadline. The store charges your store account and shows the price and billing period before confirmation. You can manage or cancel a subscription through that store's subscription settings. Deleting NullVault does not cancel a subscription.
If a free trial is offered, the duration and eligibility shown by the store control. Unless canceled before the store's deadline, the trial converts to the displayed paid subscription. A lifetime purchase is a one-time license for the platform product and entitlement described at purchase; it does not promise that every future service or third-party cost will be included indefinitely.
The applicable app store shows the current purchase options before confirmation.
Third-party and platform services
NullVault depends on operating systems, app stores, and optional provider services. Some backup, sharing, purchase, restoration, and update features use services provided by your platform or a destination you select.
Third-party services may change, become unavailable, apply quotas, or operate under separate terms. NullVault is not responsible for third-party accounts, networks, devices, stores, or destinations outside its control, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Intellectual property
NullVault, its software, visual identity, original documentation, and related materials belong to NullVault or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. The app license granted through the relevant store does not transfer ownership.
You retain rights in content you lawfully place in NullVault. You grant only the limited permissions needed for your device and selected providers to process that content at your direction—for example, to display, encrypt, back up, restore, export, or share it through a feature you use.
Feedback
If you voluntarily send product feedback, you allow NullVault to use it to improve NullVault without an obligation to compensate you. Do not include confidential information, vault secrets, or private content in feedback.
Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the app and related information are provided on an “as available” basis. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every device or file, successful recovery from every failure, or protection against every attacker.
Nothing in these terms excludes warranties, remedies, or statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded, including mandatory consumer protections.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, NullVault is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from use of or inability to use NullVault, including lost data, lost opportunity, or unauthorized access caused by risks outside the documented security model.
This limitation does not apply where liability cannot legally be limited, including any responsibility that mandatory law assigns for fraud, wilful misconduct, death, personal injury, or other non-excludable matters. Your local law may provide additional rights.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the app at any time. Deleting it can make local encrypted data inaccessible; confirm your recovery and backup plan first. Store subscriptions must be canceled through the applicable app store.
We may restrict access to online components for material misuse, security threats, legal requirements, or provider constraints. Local encrypted data and third-party cloud records may have separate lifecycles outside our possession.
Your application license ends automatically if you materially breach these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and accrued payment obligations—continue after termination.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as features, providers, and law change. The updated date identifies the current version. Where required, material changes will be communicated through an appropriate app or store notice. Continued use after an effective update constitutes acceptance only to the extent allowed by law.
Store-specific acknowledgements
If you obtain NullVault through Apple's App Store, you and NullVault acknowledge that these terms are between you and NullVault, not Apple. NullVault, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its support, warranties, and claims, except where applicable law or Apple's own terms say otherwise. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the terms governing that copy of the app and may enforce them against you. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies unless a custom license is presented in the store. Your use of the app must comply with applicable third-party terms.

Questions people ask
Does NullVault guarantee that I cannot lose data?
No. Device failure, missing credentials, corruption, unavailable providers, and absent backups can make data unrecoverable. You are responsible for maintaining and testing an appropriate recovery plan.
Can NullVault recover a forgotten phrase?
No. NullVault does not provide a support master key or phrase-reset service for local vault content.
Which law applies?
Applicable law and any mandatory consumer rules depend on the circumstances and your location. These terms do not remove rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
