NullVault is a private photo and video vault for iPhone and Android. It encrypts imported content, filenames, metadata and managed previews inside separate pattern-locked spaces. Core local use works offline without a NullVault account; optional online services and purchases are separate.
The feature
Keep private photos, videos, documents and notes together, encrypted on your phone.
Photos you add are encrypted on your phone with AES-256-GCM before they're stored. The keys come from your pattern using Argon2id, a method designed to make guessing slow and expensive.
There's no NullVault account and no copy of your keys on our servers. Your vaults work offline, and photos are only decrypted to show them to you while the right vault is open.
Many "hidden" albums and vault apps simply put photos behind a lock screen. That keeps them out of sight, but the app doesn't encrypt the files separately; they rely on your phone's own lock.
In NullVault, the photo is encrypted on your phone before it's stored, so the protection doesn't depend only on the screen in front of it.
Moving photos in takes a minute, but finish the last step, or copies stay behind.
NullVault is not limited to a hidden photo album. Photos, videos, documents, arbitrary files, and private text notes can live together inside the active encrypted vault.
Filenames, metadata, thumbnails, and file contents are encrypted at rest. The app decrypts only what an authorized vault session needs to display, preview, play, search, or export.
The authorized gallery can display photos, play supported video formats, preview supported documents, and open text notes without requiring a permanent plaintext export.
On Android, videos remain in their original format, and photo imports can preserve original quality or use Storage Saver to reduce file size. That import-mode choice is not advertised for iPhone. Preview and playback support depend on the device and file format.
You choose what enters the active vault. Importing creates a protected NullVault copy but does not guarantee removal of an original from a gallery, synchronized service, Recently Deleted, or an earlier backup.
Export creates a decrypted copy outside NullVault. From that point, the destination app, storage provider, gallery, and any connected cloud service control the new copy.
