Private camera and import

NullVault can take a new photo or video from inside the open vault and import selected device content into encrypted storage, giving you a deliberate path from capture or picker to vault item.

The feature

Why it matters

Capture into the current vault or choose existing media and files through familiar system pickers.

01

Start from the vault you intend to use

The camera action belongs to the active vault, reducing the chance of capturing something sensitive and only later remembering to move it. Picker-based import works the same way: first open the correct vault, then select what should enter it.

System permission prompts still apply. NullVault asks the operating system for camera or selected-file access only when the corresponding action needs it.

02

Confirm what remains outside

Import creates a protected NullVault item; it does not rewrite the history of the source. Existing gallery copies, cloud-synchronized versions, recently deleted items, or files in another provider may remain after the import succeeds.

Capture and import can also be interrupted by low storage, permissions, app lifecycle changes, or unsupported formats. NullVault should report completion before you make any decision about an original.

Questions about this feature

Can I take a photo from inside NullVault?

Yes. Both apps can capture into the active vault without intentionally saving those captures to the public gallery. Platform camera and media behavior still follows the limits described on this page.

Can I import an existing photo or document?

Yes. NullVault uses platform pickers to let you select supported media and files for the active vault.

Does import prove the source copy is gone?

No. NullVault protects its imported copy, but source apps, synchronized services, backups, and recently deleted areas are separate.
