Choose a protected destination for videos

Video fails in more ways than photos
Videos are larger, use a wider range of codecs, generate preview frames, and take meaningfully longer to import, back up, and export. Each of those is an additional place for an import to go partially wrong.
A video that imported successfully in the file-count sense may still be missing audio, truncated at the end, or transcoded to a lower bitrate. None of that is visible from the grid.
Thumbnails outlive the file
Preview frames are generated by the gallery, by editors, and by messaging apps, and they are stored separately from the video itself. Removing the original does not necessarily remove them.
For video specifically this matters more, because a single frame can be as disclosing as the whole clip.
Test with two files, not one
Use a short representative clip and a large or old one. The short clip verifies the basic path quickly; the large one exposes timeout, storage, and codec problems that a ten-second video will not.
