NullVault separates same-device pattern recovery from portable backup recovery. On Android, a device-recovery phrase can replace a forgotten pattern on the original device, while a portable encrypted backup uses its own backup recovery phrase.
The feature
Recover without a conventional NullVault password-reset service, while understanding that iOS and Android recovery scopes differ.
NullVault does not rely on a conventional account operator who can look up a vault and assign a new password. Recovery therefore depends on cryptographic material shown to the user before access is lost.
Save the phrase accurately and keep it separate from the device. A screenshot stored on the same phone may be convenient, but it fails exactly when the phone is lost, reset, or inaccessible.
On iOS, the phrase can identify and decrypt a matching encrypted CloudKit backup generation during a clean-install restore. The phrase alone does not contain all photos, videos, files, notes, or their encrypted inventory.
On Android, the device-recovery phrase has a narrower same-device scope. Portable backup uses a separate recovery phrase, so the encrypted backup file and its phrase should be kept in different safe locations.

No. NullVault cannot derive or email a replacement for recovery material that you did not save.
No. A phrase is recovery key material, not a copy of the vault's content. Portable recovery also needs compatible encrypted backup data.
